The EuroGlazing add-on window system
Our unique double glazing add-on system reduces the transfer of noise and heat through your windows. Our windows are specially manufactured to meet your specific size, glass thickness and hinged opening requirements.
This glazing system is used with great success in Europe and is well suited to large windows found in older style buildings. We take care to carefully match any pane joins with the existing framing creating an affordable and highly aesthetic add-on glazing system.
Technical glass for noise reduction
In order to create better sound insulation, you need to estimate (or measure) the level of noise outside, then subtract from that the existing level of noise inside, giving your current sound level. Then using a table similar to below, you can estimate what the additional benefit of different add-on class will further subtract from the sound levels inside. Bear in mind that the framing material and any other air leakages will let more noise in.
Sound insulation data (dB) Known as weighted reductions (WR)
Note that the human ear has the following limitations:
- Under typical field conditions the ear cannot detect a change of 1–2dB;
- The ear will not pick up a change of 3dB if there is a time lapse between the two sounds and they are of moderate or low intensity;
- A change of 5–7dB can always be detected;
- For every 10dB increase/decrease in intensity we perceive the sound as being a doubling/halving of the noise level.
For peace of mind and help ascertaining what acoustic improvements are possible, we recommend you engage an Acoustic Engineer. They can do accurate measurements and look at your whole house/workplace to see where the noise “leaks” are. We work with them from time to time, so if you don’t have one already, we can put you in touch with somebody independent to help you out.
Easy to open and clean
If you are happy to go with an Add-On/secondary window rather than replacing with expensive new IGU’s (Integrated Glazed Units), you will likely be looking at PVC options which attach with magnets or permanently fitted inner glass which can’t be removed for cleaning or wiping off condensation.
This is really where EuroGlazing shines! Our thicker glass FRAMELESS windows are HINGED to your wall or existing window frames, simply open them to get fresh air and clean the glass. How easy is that?
Our unique hardware:
Stainless Steel Hinges, Spanjolet Locking Handle, Button Handle, Twist Latches, Aluminium Channels and Air-tight custom-fit Seals.

Technical glass for climate control
One way to reduce solar gain, glare and UV ingress is to specify one of the many available TINTED glasses. As long as the glass you select comes in 6/6.5 or 8/8.5mm thickness, we can use it for your EuroGlazed window. This is a premium product. (see gallery)
Alternately, there are more specilaised low-emissivity (low-E) coatings on glass which are microscopically thin metal layers that are deposited on a window surface to help keep heat on the same side of the glass from which it originated. This is a premium product.
Where the metallic coating is on the outward facing side of the EuroGlazed window, the delicate surface is protected within the sealed air gap. We can use SmartGlass: a range of single glazed toughenable Low E glass selected for Australian climate conditions to assist in achieving energy star ratings for home designs, whilst still capturing natural light and views.
